Hulu, Amazon Prime and Netflix offer me twice a 30 day year free trial. That’s 6 months of free movie streaming! When I accept, I immediately put a reminder in my calendar to cancel before 30 days. When I don’t any free offer available, I just go to Red Box and rent a DVD fo a couple of bucks 🙂
Ha! That’s one way to save the $17 bucks a month for Netflix and Hulu. We might have to give that a try from time to time. 😛
We cut the cord more than five years ago and haven’t looked back. We don’t miss the constant stream of ads, though they do make an appearance every so often via Hulu. 🙂
Agreed. We have gotten spoiled a bit binge watching on Netflix. We don’t miss the commercials at all. How do you stream? Are you using a box or your computer?
I agreed to your assertion that we in a modern age of technology, which requires us to shift to online’s platform for almost everything that we do!
More people are cutting the cord nowadays and shifting their attention online. Even segments of notable TV shows, like Jimmy Fallon’s “The Tonight Show”, are made for circulation in social media and online platforms.
Agreed. More content is being made available online, which can be good for the customer, especially if you have unlimited data. I remember saying once that watching TV on your phone seems dumb. I have eaten my words on that one. 😛
We cut the cord last century. We just don’t watch that much. I get movies I want to see at the library or RedBox, I will buy series that I want to see (i.e. Big Bang) so I can view them when I want. I did invest 35.00 in a flat HD Antennae that gets pretty good reception. We can’t use the fire stick or chrome stick because we still use the tube TV from the 1990’s. 🙂
Amy, I get where you are coming from. We had to upgrade our TV because we live in a concrete building and couldn’t get reception before the digital switch, so we were prepared when it happened. Although it would be nice to get away without any TV bills. If you have wifi you still might be able to use the Apple TV box. I will have to check that out.
I’m curious how I can get free internet so I could watch Netflix if I cut the cord?
Getting free internet is probably not going to happen, that is unless it is part of your apartment or condo buildings services. Otherwise you may try to piggy back off of a network within reach that is public, but you may end up getting trolled or hacked.
I cut the cord a while back and use Amazon prime, but I also use these other free aps like Kodi for my movies and Mobdro for tv. However comcast charges an arm and a leg for Internet alone because they know people have started streaming instead of using thier cable programs. So now searching for a cheaper Internet provider that’s still as good as comcast
Sorry for the delay. Agree with you on the cost of internet. They seem to figure out how to get it from us one way or another don’t they. Good luck in cutting the cost.
